Cannon in the community Kenya Freedom from Hunger Walk - May 2006 In keeping with its commitments to giving back to the society, a large Cannon Assurance team took part in the Kenya Freedom from Hunger Walk held in mid-May 2006. This was the fourth straight year that Cannon participated in the annual event. Kenya Freedom from Hunger Walk - May 2004 Cannon staff participated in the Kenya Freedom From Hunger Walk held on 15th May 2004. The Company has always sent a team of voluntary participants to this annual event. This demonstrates the Companys commitment in caring for the less fortunate members of our community. Shaggy Dog Show 2004 Seen at the 2004 Shaggy Dog Show, are from left to right four young but able assistant judges, Mr. Stephen Moko - Life Manager presenting the trophy to the owner Ms. Abigail Hooper, of the winner for the category The Dog with the Waggiest Tail, with Mrs. Hooper (extreme right). Cannon at Windsor Golf Club It was an eventful unique day for the Japanese community in Kenya when Cannon sponsored a golf event at the Windsor Golf & Country Club. After enjoying a game of golf, the participants were treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch. The various teams who participated in the event were presented exclusive gifts from our Company. Seen in the picture above is Mr. Kamau joined by members of the Japanese community.
2003 Barclays Walk Continuing with its social responsibility to the society, a group of Cannon Staff also took part in the Barclays Walk held on 21st June 2003. The 12 km. walk was aimed at aiding the NARC government's efforts in providing free education. The event was flagged off from KICC and finished at the Barclays Sports Club in Ruaraka. Support The longest continuously sponsored golf competition in the country is the Cannon Trophy at the Mombasa Golf Club. Cannon Assurance first sponsored this event in 1968 and it has been played for annually since. The winner in 2006 was L. Da Costa, with a score of 37 points. Runner-Up was A. Thakkar.
In the past, the Company has also sponsered the Coast Tennis Championships at the Mombasa Sports Club, the National Hockey League for three years and also an award to the Hockey Player of the Year. In cricket the Company supported the Kenya Cricket Association through booking of corporate boxes at International fixtures at home.
